50 Cent Pushed Back
Editorial ReviewEditorial Review
The release of 50 Cent's fourth album, Before I Self Destruct, has been pushed back to early 2009. The follow up to 2007's Curtis was originally due for release in the US on 16 December. That's since been scrapped after the rapper's US label said he was "feeling rushed" to meet the target date and decided he needed more time.Mind you, the album does come with a full-length feature film, in which Fiddy plays an aspiring basketball player who decides to take up a life of crime. Forgoing a cinema release, or a direct-to-video deal, the movie will instead come packaged with the album. Presumably, this is meant to keep people from simply downloading the release off some torrent site.
Given the lacklustre response to Fiddy's last album, a lot hinges on the success of Before I self Destruct. Seems like the record label isn't taking any chances with this one and are a little nervous about the whole thing. That's usually what happens when your act goes from selling 10 million 'units' down to one million in the space of a few years.
