Editorial Review
From the metaphorical ashes of a carbon-copy, Irish pub comes the resplendent and sophisticated confines of the spanking new Hotel Soho. Although the exterior may still be there, the Guinness-soaked carpet has been rolled up and burnt, and the calls for Danny Boy and U2 covers have long since echoed into silence. In their place, the refurbished hotel has undergone a miraculous transformation from ladette to lady. Leather sofas, modern chairs and tables, and high ceilings create an air of wealth and luxury, making it an enticing notion to stay on past your bed time and kick up those pedicured heels.
Every weekend is live music weekend at the Soho. Live rock, funk and jazz bands set the scene each Friday thru Sunday night, getting those desk-addled hips swaying. And if you're more of a fan of men in tight shorts tackling each other to the ground, there's a handful of large screens to catch the latest game on - BYO homoerotic overtones. And sport is nothing without a decent drop: if you're lucky enough to drop by during a happy hour, you can enjoy your favourite tipple on the cheap, or sometimes even free. Good for the hip pocket; not so good for brain cells.
Satisfying those pot'n'parma urges, the menu here is your standard fare, albeit with portions turned up a notch. Chances are you'll be sharing your steak with one of the locals by the end of dinner.
