Editorial Review

Argh, me hearties! Prepare to reap the precious bounty of the most glorious catch of the day! Mere minutes walk from the shopping glory that is Salamanca, the Ocean Child Inn is your first port of call for beer and old fashioned pub grub (bangers and mash, captain?). A glorious, art deco facade greets the eyes as you walk into this proverbial time capsule - no fancy pants cocktails or Guitar Hero Tuesdays; this is a pub's pub. Sailors of old would weigh anchor and pop by the Ocean Child (OC) before heading home to see the missus. In those days, beer and rum were the choice of tipple.

Following a nautical theme, the OC is decked in a veritable forest of timber, with sea faring trinkets and oddities on every wall. If that sort of thing floats your boat (apologies for the pun), then you'll think you've died and gone to heaven. Or, Davey Jones's locker, whichever one old sea dogs go to. Mind you have a decent meal before you go: steak Neptune, chicken schnitzel, pork ribs and other heart stoppers. And don't forget to check the specials board.

A sailor with a fine eye for booze will appreciate the selection of tap and bottle beers: Guinness, Pure Blonde, Boags and Cascade Draughts, New Castle Brown and more. Add some popular treats - like Bacardi Breezer - and everything old is new again.
