Editorial Review
Joe's Garage is kind of like a flashback. A flashback to films like Rumble Fish or Easy Rider (but without the rednecks). To a time when you'd throw your old lady on the back of your chopper, scream down the street running every red light and pull up outside Joe's, roaring your engine to announce your arrival. Well, the sentiment might have changed slightly (we now stop for red lights, lest the fuzz catch us), but the glory days of rock'n'roll, bikes and booze live on at this most original of bars. Joe's Garage stands as a glowing beacon to all those one percenters, hell bent on a having a good ol' time.
There are no prizes for guessing this bar was once an auto mechanic's. Suitably, engine parts and accessories litter the bar itself, even being utilised as furniture - like engine blocks used as table bases, or entire tool chests, fenders and number plates spread over every wall. You really get the feeling you've stepped into a world where The Fonz is now a hard-drinking SOB and Richie makes moonshine in a still for the locals. While it may not be that big on the inside, the crowd regularly spill out onto the footpath to admire the latest set of wheels to roll up or just suck back some tobacco.
And if you're parched after a long ride, Joe's serve a reliable range of ready-to-drink bottles and cans - from Jim Beam tinnies and bottles, to Smirnoff Ice and VB cans. After all, you don't want to worry about spilling your drink when you're rough-housing with the locals, who comprise a jovial crew of motorcycle riders and classic car drivers. They may seem a bit rough around the edges, but they certainly are a friendly bunch.
