How many bars can claim heritage from a jam factory? The answer is easy: mighty sweet ones. And so we have the IXL Long Bar. Part of the historic Henry Jones Art Hotel, this bar functions as an after work stop-off point as well as a function centre. Situated between the hotel lobby and the Atrium (an amazing piece of engineering in itself), this bar might seem a little on the small side, but sports all the comforts of larger venues, minus the bar flies. Of course, if you like bar flies you can always put your hand up for the job.

Exposed timber rafters add that touch of nostalgia to the whole proceeding, while the parquet flooring just begs for a tap solo. Of course, the whole place is highlighted with modern finishes - a glass bar top, Ikea bar stools and a mighty plasma screen for sport and news updates. Surprisingly, this melding of designs eras actually lays well in this most versatile of spaces.

Meanwhile behind the bar, ice cold beers are the order of the day, offset with a classic list of traditional cocktails. Try a glass of Coopers or a Long Bar martini - served in a red cocktail glass!
