Last year, over 6000 pounding paws and people raised more than $30,000 which went towards caring for the thousands of animals at RSPCA shelters right across Tasmania, and this year, organisers are hoping to go even better – and this is where you come in. Whether you’re a dog owner or not, the RSPCA invites you to participate in the Million Paws Walk where you can have fun while raising awareness and much-needed funds for the thousands of animals who come through the RSPCA shelter doors.
On Sunday, at the Royal Hobart Showgrounds, as well as various other locations right across the state including Launceston and Ulverstone, you’re invited to bring your four-legged friend, yourself, your family, friends or even a team to enjoy a special day jam-packed with entertainment, pet awareness, competitions and light exercise for you and your furry friend. If this sounds like dog heaven – that’s because it is, but remember, you don’t have to be a dog owner to come along - the RSPCA wants everyone to join in the fun and festivities.
And what A-List dog event would be complete without pet parades and “doghouse” photos? There’s exclusive 2008 Million Paws Walk merchandise available for purchase on the day including men’s and ladies t-shirts, caps and bucket hats – in fact there’s something for the entire family including dog coats and bandanas for your four legged friends!
If you miss out you’ll be in the dog house, so make sure you make room in your weekend for this fantastic fun-filled and vital fundraising event. And doggone it, don’t forget the lead!
